Over one sixth of Bhutan's people have sought asylum in Nepal and other countries in the world, mostly Nepalese descent from Southern Bhutan fled to the neighbouring Kingdom in early 1990s when Bhutan imposed cultural reform. They spent more than 15 years living in refugee camps established in Nepal by UNHCR.
